What is measured

Polls: “If the Bundestag election were next Sunday …”. Each poll with its day of publication, as DAWUM collects them. The average: each Sunday every institute’s newest poll within the 21 days before; a party counts where at least half the institutes name it.

Limits of the data

  • The institutes ask in different ways (by phone, online, weighted differently): their figures differ even when the mood is the same.
  • Some institutes count small parties such as the BSW among “others”.
